Principal's Update

Dear Parents

I hope you and the family are well and looking forward to the half term break which begins on Sunday 27th February 2022, with students returning to school on Sunday 6th March 2022. By then, I am very hopeful that all students will have received the necessary authorisation from the Ministry of Health to return to class. Like all other members of staff I am really looking forward to the day when all students return to school without any restrictions.   I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a happy and celebratory National Day & Liberation Day.       

Registration / Re-registration

The school has already begun the process to register new students and re-register current ones.  A separate note on this matter was shared with all parents whose children are enrolled at the Academy.  I would urge you to settle all school fees in order to prepare for the next academic year.  If you have any concerns about re-registering your child I would appreciate it if you could make me aware and I will arrange to meet with you.  In the first instance I can be contacted by email - sjc@tea.edu.kw Please remind family and friends that the registration process at the school is underway.

Year 8 into Year 9

I am pleased to inform you that the Accelerated Programme has been amended and updated with an emphasis on expanding those students eligible to engage in it.  A Google Meet will be held on Tuesday 22nd February 2022 at 17:00 to make parents aware of these amendments.  I anticipate by then that every parent will know if their child has been selected to participate.  After half term the parents of those students selected to participate will have the option of meeting with the School Principal, Mr Cowden, & the Head of Secondary, Mr O’Connor.  This will be a personalised one on one meeting with the focus strictly on the child.  Currently, teachers are analysing a range of data to determine which students are suitable for this programme.  

For those students not participating in the Accelerated Programme I am pleased to announce that they have an alternative pathway by engaging in a three year IGCSE programme of study.  This is an exciting new initiative & one that will allow these students to start studying for IGCSEs in Year 9, sitting them at the end of Year 11.  A Google Meet will be held on Wednesday 23rd February 2022 at 17:00 to make parents aware of this new and dynamic approach.  Again, I anticipate that every parent will know if their child has been selected to participate and individual meetings will take place after half term with the School Principal and the Head of Secondary.  The emphasis will be on the child and the meeting will be highly personalised.  

Year 9 into Year 10

Parents of Year 9 students are invited to attend the Options Evening taking place in the auditorium on Wednesday 9th March 2022, 17:00 to 19:00. Mr O’Connor has already held two Google Meets with parents and students on this matter where he made them aware of how the process has changed.  A recording of each Google Meet is available from the relevant Google Classrooms.

Year 10B and Year 11 Parents Meeting

A parents evening will take place on Monday 21st February 2022 which will enable parents to discuss their child’s recent performance in the mock examinations.  Your child’s scripts will be made available to you during the evening but they will not be released to be taken home. The meeting will take place at 18:00 and end at  20:00 on the Flag Court.  Your child’s report will be released on the Parent Portal at 14:00 on 21st February 2022.  A hard copy can be collected on the night.  Intervention meetings are currently ongoing in school for those students whose performance is a concern.  

Year 6 into Year 7

From April onwards the focus will be on preparing Year 6 students for secondary school.  Please do not hesitate to contact me if you would like to discuss your child’s move from Year 6 to Year 7.

COVID-19 Update

Due to the effective prevention methods adopted by the school administration, teachers and students COVID-19 has not impacted adversely upon the efficient operation of the school.  In the past weeks some classes have had to be taught remotely due to staff illness but this is receding.  I am confident that the school has overcome the worst.  Increased numbers of Year 7 and 8  students are now attending lessons but the school continues to monitor the situation.  It is my expectation that more students will be able to come to school after the half term break.  In the meantime, the school continues to undergo a daily deep clean and everyone  on the premises adheres to social distancing, the correct wearing of a face mask and regular sanitisation of hands.

أولياء الأمور الكرام،

تحية طيبة وبعد،،

أتمنى أن تكونوا أنتم وعائلاتكم بصحة جيدة متطلعين إلى إجازة نصف الفصل الدراسي الثاني والتي تبدأ يوم الأحد الموافق 27 فبراير 2022 والعودة الى المدرسة يوم الأحد الموافق 6 مارس 2022. إننا نأمل أن يكون بإمكان جميع الطلاب الحضور إلى المدرسة تبعا لقرارات وزارة الصحة نحو استكمال عودة الجميع بالعودة إلى الصف. وكبقية جميع أعضاء هيئة التدريس إنني أتطلع حقًا إلى اليوم الذي يعود فيه جميع الطلاب إلى المدرسة دون أي قيود. وأود أن أغتنم هذه الفرصة لاتمنى لدولة الكويت الحبيبة عيدًا وطنيًا سعيدًا.

التسجيل / إعادة التسجيل للعام الدراسي 2022/23

بدأت المدرسة بالفعل عملية تسجيل الطلاب الجدد وإعادة تسجيل الطلاب الحاليين للعام الدراسى القادم. وقد تم إعلام جميع أولياء الأمور برسالة مسبقة لإعادة التسجيل. أود أن أحثكم على تسوية جميع الرسوم الدراسية للعام الدراسى الحالى من أجل الاستعداد للعام الدراسي المقبل. إذا كانت لديكم أي استفسارات بشأن إعادة تسجيل طفلكم ، فسأكون ممتنًا لكم مشاركتها معي وترتيب موعد لمناقشتها. في المقام الأول يمكن الاتصال بي عبر البريد الإلكتروني - sjc@tea.edu.kw يرجى تذكير العائلة والأصدقاء بأن عملية التسجيل في المدرسة جارية.

طلاب الصف الثامن المنتقلين الى الصف التاسع

يسعدني أن أبلغكم أن برنامج شهادة IGCSE المتقدم( Accelerated ) قد تم تحديثه مع التركيز على توسيع نطاق قبول طاقات واستعدادات الطلاب المؤهلين للمشاركة فيه. سيعقد اجتماع  Google Meet يوم الثلاثاء 22 فبراير الساعة 17:00 لتوعية أولياء الأمور بهذه التعديلات. أتوقع بحلول ذلك الوقت أن يعرف كل ولى امر ما إذا كان قد تم اختيار ابنه/ابنته للمشاركة فى هذا البرنامج . بعد نصف الفصل الدراسي الحالي سيكون لدى أولياء أمور الطلاب الذين تم اختيارهم للمشاركة بهذا البرنامج خيار الاجتماع مع مدير المدرسة / السيد كاودن ، ورئيس المدرسة الثانوية / السيد أوكونور. سيكون هذا اجتماعًا فرديا خاصا بالطالب. يقوم المعلمون حاليًا بتحليل مجموعة من البيانات لتحديد الطلاب المناسبين لهذا البرنامج.

بالنسبة لأولئك الطلاب الذين لا يشاركون في البرنامج المتقدم Accelerated ، يسعدني أن أعلن أن لديهم مسارًا بديلًا من خلال بدء دراسة برنامج IGCSE لمدة ثلاث سنوات. هذه مبادرة جديدة ستسمح لهؤلاء الطلاب ببدء دراسة منهج شهادة IGCSE  في الصف التاسع والصف العاشر وحتى نهاية الصف الحادى عشر. سيعقد اجتماع Google يوم الأربعاء 23 فبراير 2022 في الساعة 17:00 لتوعية أولياء الأمور بهذا النهج الجديد الفعال ، مرة أخرى ، أتوقع أن يعرف كل ولى امر البرنامج الذي تم  اختياره لأطفالهم، وستعقد اجتماعات فردية بعد نصف الفصل الدراسي مع مدير المدرسة ورئيس المدرسة الثانوية. سيكون التركيز فيها على احتياجات واستعداد كل طالب على حده.

طلاب الصف التاسع المنتقلين للصف العاشر

أولياء أمور طلاب الصف التاسع مدعوون لحضور أمسية اختيارات المواد التي تقام في مسرح المدرسة  يوم الأربعاء 9 مارس 2022 ، من الساعة 17:00 إلى الساعة 19:00. عقد السيد / أوكونور بالفعل اجتماعين من اجتماعات Google مع أولياء الأمور والطلاب بشأن هذا الأمر حيث أطلعهم على كيفية تغيير النهج المتبع. بإمكانكم مراجعة التسجيل الخاص بهذين الاجتماعيين Google Meet على  Google Classroom  ذات الصلة.

اجتماع أولياء الأمور الصف العاشر B ( البرنامج المتقدم) والصف الحادي عشر

سيتم عقد اجتماع لأولياء أمور طلاب الصف الحادي عشر والعاشر B يوم الاثنين القادم الموافق 21 فبراير 2022 والذي سيتيح لكم الفرصة لمناقشة أداء أبنائكم/ بناتكم في الامتحانات التجريبية و ستكون أوراق الامتحانات متاحة للاطلاع عليها فقط خلال هذا الاجتماع و لا يسمح بأخذها أو أخذ نسخة منها. سيكون الاجتماع بين الساعة 6:00 مساء وحتى الساعة 8:00 مساء في ساحة العلم.

ستكون التقارير الدراسية متاحة على بوابة أولياء الأمور الالكترونية يوم الاثنين  21 فبراير في تمام الساعة 2:00 ظهرا. كما يمكنكم تسلم  النسخة الورقية من التقارير المدرسية في هذه الأمسية. 

يرجى العلم بأن دروس التقوية متاحة الآن لجميع الطلاب الذين ظهرت نتائجهم ويحتاجون إلى دعم إضافي.

طلاب الصف السادس المنتقلين الى الصف السابع

اعتبارًا من أبريل فصاعدًا ، سيكون التركيز على إعداد طلاب الصف السادس للمرحلة الثانوية. يُرجى عدم التردد في الاتصال بي إذا كنت ترغب في مناقشة انتقال ابنكم / ابنتكم من الصف السادس إلى الصف السابع.

تحديث COVID-19

نظرًا لأساليب الوقاية الفعالة التي اعتمدتها إدارة المدرسة  واتبعها كل من المدرسين والطلاب فإن فيروس كوفيد -19 لم يؤثر سلبًا على استمرار العملية التعليمية في المدرسة. في الأسابيع الماضية ، كان لابد من تدريس بعض الفصول عن بُعد بسبب مرض بعض المدرسين ولكن هذا الأمر آخذ في الانحسار. أنا واثق من أن المدرسة قد تغلبت على الظروف الصعبة و تمكنا من زيادة عدد  طلاب الصفين السابع والثامن الذين  يحضرون الدروس الآن من المدرسة.  يرجي العلم ان  المدرسة تواصل مراقبة الوضع. أتوقع أن يتمكن المزيد من الطلاب من القدوم إلى المدرسة بعد عطلة نصف الفصل الدراسي الحالي . كما  تستمر المدرسة في تطبيق الإجراءات الاحترازية و الخضوع للتطهير العميق يوميًا ويلتزم الجميع في المبنى بالتباعد الاجتماعي والارتداء الصحيح لقناع الوجه والتعقيم المنتظم لليدين.
