Welcome to the Infants department at The English Academy which comprises Kindergarten, Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.
In the Infants department, we strive to give each child the best possible start to their educational journey. We provide nurturing environments where students feel safe, cared for and are surrounded by staff who know each child individually. Our students are taught to be self-sufficient, creative thinkers who grow up to become independent long life learners. We believe that a good balance between adult-lead and child-initiated activities paves the way to successful learning. Our lessons are catered to our students’ needs and abilities whilst following the National UK Curriculum. Our team of highly qualified and experienced staff members work incredibly hard to secure good outcomes for the children.
The Early Years department (KG and Rec) focuses on 7 areas of learning and development which shapes our curriculum. Lessons are based around topics and students get to explore language skills and develop their fine motor skills in a setting that excites them. In Key Stage 1 (Yr1 and Yr2) the students have themed based lessons which are designed to keep students interested and engaged in their learning. At TEA our learning is made fun, creative and meaningful. There is a clear progression of skills in each subject to enable children to grow in all areas and be successful in daily life.
We are extremely proud of our students and of their achievements. We look forward to working with you to support your child’s learning.
In the Early Years at TEA we believe that learning should be an enjoyable experience in which our children are able to investigate, create, discover, problem solve and consolidate their skills and understanding. Our team strives to enhance the quality of teaching and learning, providing fun, interactive and learning environments for each and every child. Our children learn how to be great learners!
In KG and Reception, we follow the EYFS Framework.
The Foundation Stage curriculum is organised into seven areas of learning. All areas of learning and development are important and interconnected. Three areas are particularly crucial for igniting your child’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, and for building their capacity to learn, form relationships and thrive. These three areas, the prime areas, are:
Communication and language;
Physical development; and
Personal, Social and Emotional development.
We will also support your child in four specific areas, through which the three prime areas are strengthened and applied. The specific areas are:
Literacy;
Mathematics;
Understanding the World;
Expressive Arts and Design.
These 7 areas are used to plan your child’s learning and activities. The professionals teaching and supporting your child will ensure that the activities are suited to your child’s unique needs. This is a little bit like a curriculum in primary and secondary schools, but it's suitable for very young children, and it's designed to be really flexible so that staff can follow your child's unique needs and interests. Children in the EYFS learn by playing and exploring, being active, and through creative and critical thinking, which takes place both in the classroom and outside playing areas.
