Dear Parents

I hope you and your family are well.  Your support and cooperation have played a key role in making this a very successful term so far.

It is so nice for the students and staff to return to pre-COVID school procedures and processes.  Indeed, it is a real joy to meet & greet your children each morning as they enter the school premises. 

End of the School Day

I would like to thank all those parents who collect their children at the end of the school day for making the new system function effectively.  Students in Years 1 to 3 are now collected from the Flag Court & students in Years 4 to 6 are collected from the auditorium.  A one way system has been introduced to avoid the corridors and other areas becoming too congested.  It would now appear that every one understands how the system works leading to a more orderly exit from the school premises.  The school will continue to monitor this procedure.  

Smartboard Technology

I am pleased to announce that the EYFS/KS1 school has received interactive smartboards to further improve the quality of teaching and learning.  It is anticipated that these interactive smartboards will be in use after the October half term break.   I am quite sure the teachers & students will appreciate engaging with this technology to enhance both learning & teaching.

Extra Curricular Activities

Student participation in the numerous Extra Curricular Activities is proving to be very popular.  Both staff and students are enjoying the experience.  The PE Department under the leadership of Mr Weninger is flourishing with a number of netball & football competitions having already taken place with other local schools this term.  There is a clear desire by the students to get involved in sporting  and other activities beyond the classroom.  It is hoped that some students will be competing in competitions organised by the organisation known as British Schools in the Middle East [BSME].

Model United Nations

The English Academy has a tradition of organising & holding Model United Nations conferences and it is anticipated that this will continue in due course.  However, for the time being students at TEA will attend a couple of MUN conferences held by other schools in Kuwait.  The MUN initiative this year is being led by Mr Iroye. 

Duke of Edinburgh / International Award

The Duke of Edinburgh Award / International Award programme is being led by Mr Kilbey.  In the past, many students have participated in this programme achieving bronze, silver and gold awards.  It is anticipated that there will be a group of students wishing to pursue the bronze award this year.  

Educational Visits

This week students in Year 6 and Year 5 visited the Scientific Centre.  There will be many more educational visits taking place throughout this academic year.

Saturday Academy

The Saturday Academy will resume after the October half term break.  A range of activities have been circulated to the students & it is anticipated that the students will respond positively, helping to bring the school ‘alive’ on Saturday mornings.

School Fees

Please could you ensure that all outstanding fees are paid by the end of this week, Thursday 13th October 2022.  Individual letters will be distributed to those parents who have an outstanding amount to pay during the week beginning 16th October 2022.

School Canteen

Please note that the school canteen has been up and running for a few weeks now with the students enjoying the range of foodstuffs available.  

Staffing Matters

Due to circumstances beyond the school’s control, Mr John Cushion has returned to the UK.  Fortunately the school has been able to employ Ms Dalia Zakaria, a former TEA teacher, to fill this role.  Mr Zain Saleem, has had to return to the UK but fortunately the Science Department has managed to reorganise how current teachers are allocated to overcome this  shortage.  It is anticipated a new  teacher will be in post before the start of term two.  .  

Year 10 / 11 Update

AS mocks will start during the week beginning 13th November 2022 [Week 10 of the school year].

IG mocks - 5 core subjects - English, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry & Physics - will begin during the week beginning 4th December 2022 [Week 13 of the school year].

IG mocks - optional subjects - will begin on  11th December [Week 14 of the school year].

The request to drop a subject by a Year 11 student will only be considered following the Parent Consultation Day on 15th January 2023.  

REMINDER: Mobile phones

I would like to take this opportunity to remind all parents that mobile phones must not be brought to school by any student.  If your child is caught in possession of a mobile phone it will be confiscated for 5 days.  The Principal will return the phone to the parent on the sixth day.  The Principal may undertake regular spot checks.   

Reminder: Punctuality & Attendance

It is essential that all students attend school every day to ensure they reach their full potential.  Students must also be on time by arriving at school on or before 7:20.  To avoid students being late due to congestion the school does provide an early entry service from 6:30.  Please take advantage of this service to ensure your children arrive at school on time.

October Half Term Break

Please be reminded that the half term begins on Sunday 23rd October and ends on Thursday 27th October with both students and staff returning to school on Sunday 30th October 2022.

أولياء الأمور الكرام،

تحية طيبة وبعد،

أتمنى ان تكونوا انتم وعائلتكم بخير، قد ساهم تعاونكم ودعمكم فى نجاح الفصل الدراسي الاول من العام الدراسي الحالي.

من الجيد جدًا للطلاب و العاملين بالمدرسة  العودة إلى الإجراءات المدرسية المتبعة من قبل COVID. في الواقع ، إنه لمن دواعي سروري حقًا مقابلة  أبنائنا الطلاب وتحيتهم كل صباح.

إجراءات نهاية اليوم الدراسي

أود أن أشكر جميع أولياء الأمور الذين يصطحبون أطفالهم في نهاية اليوم الدراسي  لجعل النظام  الجديد المتبع يعمل بشكل فعال. يتم الآن اصطحاب الطلاب في الصف الأول الى الصف الثالث الابتدائى من الساحة ( Flag Court ) ويتم أصطحاب الطلاب في الصف الرابع الى الصف السادس من قاعة المسرح. تم تطبيق نظام الاتجاه الواحد لتجنب ازدحام الممرات والمناطق الأخرى داخل المدرسة. ويبدو الآن أن كل فرد على دراية بكيفية عمل النظام مما يؤدي إلى خروج الطلاب بطريقة أكثر تنظيماً من مباني المدرسة. وستستمر المدرسة في مراقبة هذا الإجراء.

تقنية السبورة الذكية

يسعدني أن أعلن أن قسم صفوف الروضة والتمهيدي والصف الاول والثانى الابتدائى قد تم تزويد صفوفهم بالسبورة الذكية التفاعلية لزيادة تحسين جودة التدريس والتعلم. من المتوقع أن يتم استخدام هذه اللوحات الذكية التفاعلية بعد نهاية عطلة منتصف الفصل الدراسي الأول في أكتوبر. أنا متأكد تمامًا من أن المعلمين والطلاب سيستفيدون من هذه التكنولوجيا لتعزيز العملية التعليمية.

النشاطات المدرسية الإضافية

مشاركة الطلاب في العديد من الأنشطة الإضافية  تنم على أنها تحظى بشعبية كبيرة بين الطلاب. حيث يتمتع كل من الموظفين والطلاب بالتجربة. كما يقوم قسم التربية البدنية تحت قيادة السيد وينجر بالعديد من مسابقات كرة الشبكة وكرة القدم التي أقيمت بالفعل مع مدارس محلية أخرى  خلال هذا الفصل الدراسى الحالى. هناك رغبة واضحة لدى الطلاب للمشاركة في الأنشطة الرياضية وغيرها من الأنشطة. ومن المتوقع أن يتنافس بعض الطلاب في مسابقات تنظمها المنظمة المعروفة باسم المدارس البريطانية في الشرق الأوسط [BSME].

نموذج الأمم المتحدة

حرصت الأكاديمية الإنجليزية على تنظيم وعقد مؤتمرات نموذجية للأمم المتحدة ومن المتوقع أن يستمر ذلك فى الوقت المناسب. ومع ذلك ، في الوقت الحالي ، سيحضر الطلاب في الاكاديمية الانجليزية مؤتمرين لنموذج الأمم المتحدة  تعقدها مدارس أخرى في الكويت. يقود السيد Iroye هذا العام.مبادرة نموذج الأمم المتحدة.

دوق ادنبره / الجائزة الدولية

يقود السيد كيلبي برنامج  جائزة دوق أدنبرة / برنامج الجائزة الدولية. في السنوات الماضية ، شارك العديد من الطلاب في هذا البرنامج وحصلوا على جوائز برونزية وفضية وذهبية. ومن المتوقع أن يكون هناك مجموعة من الطلاب الراغبين في متابعة الجائزة البرونزية هذا العام.

الرحلات التعليمية

قام طلاب الصف السادس والخامس هذا الأسبوع بزيارة المركز العلمي. لا شك أنه سيكون هناك المزيد من الزيارات التعليمية خلال هذا العام الدراسي.

أكاديمية السبت للأنشطة

سوف تستأنف أكاديمية السبت بعد عطلة نصف الفصل الدراسي فى أكتوبر. تم توزيع مجموعة من الأنشطة على الطلاب ومن المتوقع أن يستجيب الطلاب بشكل إيجابي ، مما يساعد على إحياء المدرسة صباح يوم السبت.

الرسوم المدرسية

يرجى التأكد من سداد جميع الرسوم المستحقة بحلول نهاية هذا الأسبوع  الخميس 13 أكتوبر 2022 ، سوف يتم إرسال رسائل إلى أولياء الأمور الذين لديهم مبالغ مستحقة الدفع خلال الأسبوع الذي يبدأ في 16 أكتوبر 2022.

كانتين المدرسة

يرجى ملاحظة أن كانتين المدرسة يعمل منذ بضعة أسابيع ويستمتع الطلاب بمجموعة متنوعة من المواد الغذائية المتاحة.

شؤون المدرسين

بسبب ظروف خارجة عن سيطرة المدرسة ، عاد السيد جون كوشن - معلم الصف الثانى الابتدائى-  إلى المملكة المتحدة. وقد تمكنت المدرسة من توظيف السيدة داليا زكريا والتى كانت معلمة سابقة في الاكاديمية الانجليزية لأداء وظيفته. كما أن السيد زين سليم  - معلم بقسم الثانوى( قسم العلوم) اضطر إلى العودة إلى المملكة المتحدة ولكن لحسن الحظ تمكن قسم العلوم من إعادة تنظيم المعلمين الحاليين للتغلب على هذا النقص. من المتوقع أن يكون المعلم الجديد في المنصب قبل بداية الفصل الدراسي الثاني. 

أخبار الصفين العاشر / والحادي عشر 

ستبدأ امتحانات المستوى المتقدم التجريبية (AS) في الأسبوع الذي يبدأ بتاريخ  13 من نوفمبر 2022 ( الأسبوع العاشر في التقويم المدرسي لهذا العام). 

ستبدأ اختبارات IGCSE  في الخمس المواد الأساسية: اللغة الإنجليزية ، الرياضيات، الأحياء، الكيمياء، والفيزياء في الأسبوع الذي يبدأ بتاريخ 4 من ديسمبر 2022 ( الأسبوع الثالث عشر في التقويم المدرسي لهذا العام).

ستبدأ اختبارات IGCSE في المواد المختارة - في الأسبوع الذي يبدأ بتاريخ 11 ديسمبر ( الأسبوع الرابع عشر في التقويم المدرسي لهذا العام).

سيتم التعامل مع طلبات طلاب الصف الحادي عشر إسقاط دراسة أيا من المواد بعد اجتماع أولياء الأمور المقرر عقده يوم 15 يناير 2023.

تذكير: الهواتف المحمولة

أود أن أغتنم هذه الفرصة لتذكير جميع أولياء الأمور بأنه لا يجب على أي طالب إحضار الهواتف المحمولة إلى المدرسة. إذا تم ضبط أي طالب بحوزته هاتف محمول ، فستتم مصادرته لمدة 5 أيام. سيعيد الناظر الهاتف إلى ولي الأمر في اليوم السادس. قد يقوم الناظر بإجراء التفتيش العشوائي كل فترة.

تذكير: الالتزام بالمواعيد والحضور

من الضروري أن يحضر جميع الطلاب  كل يوم إلى المدرسة لضمان الاستفادة الكاملة . يجب أن يحضر الطلاب أيضًا في الوقت المحدد عن طريق الوصول إلى المدرسة في أو قبل الساعة 7:20. و لتجنب تأخر الطلاب بسبب الازدحام ، تقدم المدرسة خدمة الدخول المبكر  الى مبنى المدرسة وذلك من الساعة 6:30. يرجى الاستفادة من هذه الخدمة لضمان وصول أطفالك إلى المدرسة في الوقت المحدد.

عطلة منتصف الفصل الدراسى الأول – أكتوبر

نود تذكيركم بأن عطلة  الفصل الدراسي الأول تبدأ يوم الأحد 23 أكتوبر وتنتهي يوم الخميس 27 أكتوبر مع عودة كل من الطلاب والموظفين إلى المدرسة يوم الأحد 30 أكتوبر 2022..
